WHY POWERSCOURT?
Owner of Cloon Keen, Margaret Mangan, commenting on the journey, that ended up with them opening their first stand-alone shop in Dublin said,
‘It was very important to us that our surroundings inform and enrich our collection while adding depth to our customer's experience whether from here or abroad. Powerscourt Townhouse, to me, reflects the city’s own history, culture, and tradition.
I also have always loved the wonderfully eclectic and authentic mix of shopkeepers, from modern Irish fashion, millinery, and jewellery to antique shops and florists. It is wonderful to be surrounded by neighbours who have the same passion for their craft!
Powerscourt is the jewel of Dublin city shopping and I cannot wait to see it wake up from its slumber on the first of December, lit in all its splendour.
The people in Dublin make it what it is…a wonderful, welcoming city to be incredibly proud of.’
Margaret Mangan, Owner Cloon Keen Atelier
All of their stunning products are hand made in Galway. Their oils come from renowned growers who share the same passion for place. They know how weather, soil and the seasons can all affect the scent of raw materials. This is part of the magic. Cloon Keen evokes memories of Cluain Caoin, a splendid meadow, a place that is everywhere and yet nowhere. Always in mind, always tantalisingly out of reach. As times, names, and stories change, passion remains.
Artisan Perfumes Rooted in Irish Tradition
Ireland is a tapestry of places whose names are steeped in association with history, nature, remembrance, and myth. Cloon Keen takes its name from one of these places, with its origin in the Gaelic ‘Cluain Caoin', meaning ‘splendid meadow’.
